Dhaka Medical College (DMC) was the first medical college in Bangladesh, established on July 10, 1946. DMC's original building was constructed before the petition of Bengal in 1905. Presently, 37 Government and 72 private medical colleges offer MBBS programs to local and international students. All the medical colleges in Bangladesh have affiliations with 7 universities. Among these 7 universities, 4 are Gov, and the rest 3 are Private Univ. The respective university conducts professional examinations, following the guidelines and norms laid down by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and the Government of Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council (BM&DC) is the regulatory authority for MBBS in Bangladesh. All medical colleges must be affiliated with BM&DC. The Ministry of Health and BM&DC strictly supervise all the medical colleges in Bangladesh.
